In the Community

Community is not just a part of our name; it’s what we believe in.

March of Dimes

Erie Community Credit Union participated for the 14th year in a row in the March of Dimes “March for Babies” walk on Sunday, April 30, 2017 to support stronger, healthier babies right here in the Erie community. Nine credit union employees and their families walked 2.5 miles around the Penn State Behrend campus. Additionally, two employees volunteered their time at the registration table taking in donations from hundreds of walkers. In total, the credit union raised $3,357.20 through Sarris candy bar sales, employee jean days and pledges obtained from the staff members who walked.

Second Harvest Food Bank

On Saturday, May 6, 2017 ECCU hosted a Community Shred Event to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank's BackPack Program.

During the two-hour event, more than 11,000 pounds of paper were shredded and recycled by Shred-X of Erie.

Thanks to the generous donations from the Erie residents that came out despite the rain to have their papers shredded, we raised $1,997.25 to help feed kids in the Erie area.

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals

With the generous help of our members, Erie Community CU helped dreams thrive in Erie and made miracles for local children during a month-long campaign benefitting the Children's Miracle Network. Efforts began with Miracle Jeans Day in September and ended on International Credit Union Day on October 19, 2017. Funds were raised through employee jeans days, Sarris candy bar sales in our branches and Shop for Miracles Day participation, in which the CU donated funds for each credit and debit cardholder. All of our funds raised were matched dollar for dollar through the CO-OP Miracle Match Program.

In total, we presented a check to St. Vincent Hospital, our local CMN health center, for $9,554.40!

2016 Community Involvement
